DICS - Logging In
Welcome to DICS, the following pages should help you get up and started with the minimum of fuss.
After installing DICS to the default location C:\DICS the applications requires either MS-Access 2007 or the free access 2007 runtime program to be installed on your machine.
Once MS-Access 2007 or its' free runtime program are installed double click on the desktop icon or navigate to C:\DICS directory and double click on the file named DICS.
After the initial splash screen DICS offers a simple log-in box, the default log-in is user name Guest and pwd = password.
It is strongly recommended that you add a new log-in and then delete the 'Guest' log-in.
The protection offered in the FREE version of DICS is not sophisticated and whilst it will keep honest people honest, the more determined individual may well find a backdoor entry.
The user log-in also offers no level of user hierarchy, this facility will be considered for future releases of DICS.
OK, down to the nuts and bolts stuff. (also refer to DICS's flow diagram for a basic design input layout)
The first data users should add is the document Locations, Designation or Individuals name into the locations table.
The Locations table is available via the Admin & Support Tab
The Locations, Job Titles or Names table
Companies and use the location tables to identify the locality of their controlled documents. This may be by Location, Job Designation or Individuals Name; or in most case a mixture of all three as the circumstances require.
Once locations, etc. are entered, they became available to use in the master document input form via a drop down selection box. This means the more DICS is used the more efficient the programme becomes.
Note:
Update and amendment - All changes made to this table will be cascaded to ALL related records, allowing for one-time edit and updates.
Deletions - Will remove all records of documents issued to the location deleted ONLY. It will not remove the entire record as documents may well be issued to other locations. To delete a complete document from ALL locations, please use the delete button on the master input form.
