ISO 45001:2018 PDCA model

ISO 45001:2018 PDCA model

PDCA is the concept of a continuous cycle, with the prime objective to drive forward improvements.

Plan-Do-Check-Act > then Plan-Do-Check-Act > then Plan-Do-Check-Act... guess to you get the picture...

Further adding to the mind-map below

Plan > Plan what is required to be done

Do > Put your Plans into action

Check > Are things going to Plan

Act > Plan to improve

My view is that wherever you are in the PDCA cycle you are likely to be planning, making plans, implementing plans, checking plans, or reviewing plans... so plan to plan...

ISO 45001:2018 0.4 "The OH&S management system approach applied by this document is founded on the concept of Plan-Do-Check-Act."

The process approach enables an organisation to plan its processes and their interactions.

The PDCA cycle enables an organisation to ensure that its processes are adequately resourced and managed, and that opportunities for improvement are determined and acted on.

Risk-based thinking enables an organisation to determine the factors that could cause its processes and its quality management system to deviate from the planned results, to put in place preventive controls to minimize negative effects and to make maximum use of opportunities as they arise.

Note: The ISO 45001:2018 uses the methodology of the PDCA process throughout, however the PDCA cycle itself is not a requirement..."
