Welcome to TIRA

What is TIRA?

TIRA stands for Task Inventory and Risk Assessments and is a comprehensive risk management and analysis program, designed to be used by both the safety professional and those with part time safety  responsibilities.

TIRA is the result of 10 years learning and development. Its primary objective is to reduce the overall risk to employees and employers by making risk management simpler, less bureaucratic and more efficient.

TIRA provides guidance for the safety professional and risk assessors from the initial risk assessment planning stage, through to advice on undertaking the risk assessment, documenting the findings and producing reports.

TIRA allows organisations to manage their risk assessments efficiently and effectively by easily guiding the assessor through the whole risk assessment process and then keeping track of who, where, when, and what has been achieved as well as actions and recommendation still outstanding. TIRA allows instant access to performance and tracking information. All risk assessments can be quickly and easily located and where necessary printed in a professionally designed and standard format.

TIRA has been designed to be flexible to allow the end user the choice of how to input and control their task inventories, risk assessments (tasked based risk assessments), risk assessment findings, risk assessment actions, risk assessment briefings and briefing records.  TIRA provides the user with risk assessment examples, risk assessment forms and risk assessment templates to allow risk assessment management and risk assessment analysis.

You should find TIRA a very useful risk management tool. It covers the following elements of Risk Assessment Management and has been designed to be a one stop shop for company risk assessment activities.

Task Inventories (can be used as master index)

General Risk Assessment (Task Based) Risk Assessments

Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessments

Manual Handling Risk Assessments

Work Equipment Risk Assessments

Workplace Risk Assessments

Hazardous Substances Risk Assessments

Fire Risk Assessments

First Aid Assessments

Personal Protective Equipment Risk Assessments

Each type of risk assessment has its own input screen, and it’s like having 10 programs wrapped up neatly into one (TIRA v3).

The three basic methods to use TIRA as a risk management tool are;

Integrated

Stand-alone

Mixed

Most organisations will probably use method 3, which is a mixture of the first two methods.  However, this is not a problem, use whatever is best for the organisation, the programme will not restrict you.

Except exception of the Task Inventory module, all other modules have been designed and developed to be similar in style, feel and functionality. This will greatly reduce the time required to become familiar with TIRA as a risk management tool.

Each Module in TIRA is covered in much greater detail within these help pages, additionally users can glean information and ideas on the programs’ capabilities by registering to the TIRA forum, thus sharing their experiences, suggestions, ideas and problems.
