ISO 9001:2015 Clause 6.3 Planning of changes

Quality Management Systems are constantly evolving, being driven forward by management aspirations, customers expectations, competition, government and local authority legislation and enforcement, technical and engineering advances, staff suggestion schemes etc etc., and of course not forgetting lessons learned. These changes will need to be structured and planned, and whilst not all will warrant high level extensive evaluation and appraisal the system in place should scale appropriately.

Clause 6.3 Breakdown

6.3 Planning of changes

Being preoccupied with an approach that predominantly looks for unacceptable and unwanted outcomes is an ineffective technique for QMS planning, it is more prudent to look for both risks and opportunities for a more balanced approach.

Whether risks or opportunities are to be shunned, eliminated, decreased, endorsed, accepted, substituted, swapped or commutated will hinge on many and varied factors that an organization will need to evaluate, appraise and plan accordingly, and where necessary act in a timely manner.
